For some inspiring reason, you are made to write and have chosen to be a copywriter, which is more of an art than a science.
However, you must recognize that sometimes even the most experienced copywriters need extra help.
After reading the definition of copywriting, we realized the difficulties that copywriters face these days since people only pay attention to flashy images and short and inspiring ideas. But…what happens when those ideas seem not to flow? Or you’re stuck?
Take a look at the copywriting definition for a moment…
Copywriting is creating text for the advertisement or marketing of one specific company. It aims to raise brand awareness and persuade an audience to take a particular action, such as purchasing an item.
Contrary to popular belief, copywriting is not a simple task. Copywriters must possess a diverse skill set, including the ability to persuade audiences, create engaging content, and structure ideas from the best possible perspective. These professionals often face constraints such as limited time, limited space for conveying ideas, and external factors affecting their concentration and creativity.
If today is one of those days when you are stuck in writing…
Firstly, don’t panic! Take a step away from writing. Close your laptop.
Some people find it helpful to use physical energy to stimulate mental energy, like walking or running.
Sometimes you can read about creative techniques such as:
• Similes
• Analogies
• Imagery
• Personification
• Show, don’t tell
• Repetition in writing
• Contrast in writing
• Switch the point of view
Our team found these techniques helpful, but the most useful approach has been relating the topic we have to write about with an external idea or a completely different topic. We also brainstorm to find the proper connections, or sometimes we just set new goals.
But our best advice is don’t be too hard on yourself or simply stop feeling overwhelmed and choose the right moment or external help to express your ideas naturally.
Sometimes we think that copywriters are simply underrated. When working and before delivery, we think: is it readable? Is it engaging? Is it concise and easy to read? Is it grammatically correct? Is it creative and catchy?
Too many requisites for a bad day, but the good news is that by using creative thinking and creative writing techniques, you will find the external help and the inspiration needed to achieve empathy and deliver excellent copy pieces that show your skills.
If you agree, stay tuned for our next blog post, where we will explore some creative writing techniques… what do you think?
